I don't know if anyone could point me in the right direction or not but I am trying to configure a student Submit type folder share,
Basically, the folder will allow for students to write a file to the network share but not be able to delete/edit any other files.
For example, Student A puts his work into the Submit folder for the teacher to pick up, Student B is a pain in the arse so he wants to delete Student A's work, however, the permissions shouldn't allow Student B to delete/edit Student A's work, however he can delete/edit his own work should he do any.
If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to throw them at me, any ideas are appreciated!
As administrator [or a user allowed to edit/change permissions] right click on the folder and select 'Properties' From there select 'Security' then click the 'Advanced' tab to bring up the advanced security settings for that folder. Select select 'Change permissions' Select the user/group you want to change the permissions on this folder for and click 'Edit'
In the allow column remove all of the ticks except for those shown below:
This allows our students to submit a file by dragging the file over the folder and dropping it on the folder. They cannot see inside the folder or make changes to what is already in there.
Edit: You could have a look at permissions for 'CREATOR OWNER' [we haven't set these permissions. If a student needs access to work already submitted a staff member can copy the work out of the submitted folder back to the users' home folder and then delete the original. Works for us]
Apologies for the late post back, thank you for this, I altered it ever so slightly but it did the trick, so thanks for your help I greatly appreciate it!
