    Question Indexing Service Not Working

    Hi folks,

I'm trying to get indexing to work, to in turn speed up searches.

I've created the index in Computer Management for an entire drive. This was created several weeks ago and has almost 4 million files in it, so seems to be indexing. The indexing service is definitely running.

When I search the relevant drive in Windows Explorer I get the message "Your searches might be slow because the index is not running. Click to get help..."

Anyone know why this message still appears?

    TIA

can you get more info from the event log?

Have you tried searching for something ghat you know exists?

Index will always be indexing so it will add new items as new files etc... are added.

Searching still works, because the index is not required, but I'm trying to tie up with Explorer is telling me there is no index when there is.

Weird I got the same, however when it pops up, it says something like "Click here not to show this message again" or I may have right clicked the message, after choosing this it doesnt seem to pop again. Can you test that?>

Yes, that does cause the message to go away. I suppose the question is whether the message is even correct, but even if the index is running searching is still pretty slow. Ultrasearch seems to do a better job.

I dont really use 3rd party software so I cant comment, but it's a lot faster and better than previous versios.
