    DNS Forwarder or Conditional Forwarder

    Hi

Im the schools technician, I have a question about DNS, at the moment i have 2 internal DNS servers
as it stands the setup is as follows:

in DHCP, Option 6 point to both internal DNS servers to all of my clients

then in my DNS Server on "Forwarders" tab in my domain node properties. i have put in the ip addresses of both Council DNS's as they host the internet there.

now im confused here. im not 100% sure about Conditional Forwarding!??

should i really be using Conditional forwarding for the councils dns. or keep it as it is??

    what do you think?

You would only use conditional forwarding with your LEA if you had two connections. So all LEA network traffic went down a separate connection to your Internet traffic. That way you would want to use conditional forwarders with your LEA servers to resolve internal LEA services.

    ahhh thank you.

so basically i don't really need it. as i don't use any shared internal resources from the LEA.

    Thanks for clearing that up
