GPP registry edits. Some refuse to work.

    Hi,

We are trying to remove libraries and favorites from the navigation area in explorer using the registry tweaks however some reg edits dont work.

On some we get permission denied error and one doesnt apply at all and gives no error.

This is the one that doesnt apply and gives no error.

    Hive HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    Key path CLSID\{323CA680-C24D-4099-B94D-446DD2D7249E}\ShellFolder
    Value name Attributes
    Value type REG_DWORD
    Value data 0xA9400100 (2839544064)

    Any ideas whats wrong?

    Many thanks,

    Dan

Check the security permissions on that registry key, I think that only TrustedInstaller has modify permissions on that key. You may have to run a script first which changes the permissions and then does the modification

    Thanks all.

Found the GPO way of setting registry permissions and that sorted it.

    To change permissions goto:

    Computer configuration,
    Windows settings,
    Security settings,
    Registry.
