    Active Directory account rename

I have a user on a roaming profile, the user has 2 accounts. the account they are using now has a roaming profile. A new account was created for this person so that roaming profiles could be tested - the roaming profiles etc now works perfect but he wants to go back to his old username and adhere to company policy, for example his old username was joebloggs so I made that account joebloggs1 and renamed the account he uses now to joebloggs, i pointed the old account the the roaming profile which he'd been using on his new account and all looked well except when he opened outlook it was asking for a password to connect to exchange but none of his passwords worked.

I've never done this sort of thing before have I missed something or is it not meant to be done this way ?

    Thanks in Advance

Just because the username is now the same as his old one does not make his new account equal to his old one.

You should have just applied the roaming settings to his old account once they were tested as working, any documents he created would still be owned and have permissions set for the old account and not the new one.

I have found that renaming an account in active directory doesn't work, in fact in my case it corrupted it. As plexer said, just apply the new settings.

Thanks I'll give it a go at the end of the week by applying the settings to his old account.
