Shared printers - Does the data go through the server?

    Hi,

We have shared printers in server 2008 so they can be added to windows 7 workstations.

If a user is to then print on the workstation, would that document go via the server or would it go straight to the printer?

    Many thanks,

    Dan

If they are shared from a server then data goes client - server - printer

If the machiens have a port setup for the printer ie tcp/ip then it goes client - printer
