    Hi John,

What other details can you supply?

Is it solely that the server cannot see the clients? [do the workstations operate normally?]

Do you have another domain controller that can see the workstations?

Do you have another server [not domain controller] that can see the workstations?

How long has this been going on? [since installing the new domain controller/since setting up the VLANs?]

Logging on to a workstation as administrator can you see the rest of the network?

What can you ping on your network [if anything?]

More detail helps with suggesting an answer.

    Blind server

    Thanks for answering...

    DC1 2008r2

    DC2 2008r2

Cannot see the network on both servers

    Servers are on VLAN1

    Computer Room VLAN2

    Workshop VLAN2

When I logon to a workstation in the computer room ......the PC can see all of the PCs only in that room. (It does not show th DC1 or DC2)

I can ping the servers from the workstation.

Also having problems sharing new printers to workstations.

    Ta John

We also have VLANs setup on our network. My stations can only see stations in the same VLAN. This is the same for the servers (Server 2008 R2) [Network view from the Start Menu]

However our network works as expected.

What problems are you seeing or what functionality have you lost since you spotted this behavior?

What is it exactly that does not work? You still have not said. I have the same set-up and from your description my network could be the same as yours.

    Missing network

    Thanks again

I thought it would be possible to see all the workstations that are active by clicking on the network icon. This worked for me on server2003. I have not had any training on 2008r2....still learning how to run the system

Our network was the same when we had Sever 2003. However we did not have VLANs then.
