    MDT Deployment Workbench

    Hi Guys,

I'm having a few problems getting MDT to work, I've imported the OS which I want to install and have updated and it has give me a Lite_Touch_64.wim and the same in an ISO, I'm unsure which one to use as boot and which one to use as install.

When I boot into network from the machine I get the MDT Solutions screen but then my machine just reboots, has anyone got any simple guides on how to set it up ?

    Thanks

Check you have the correct Mass Storage Drivers applied to the task sequence and the boot image...
This is the usual problem with this failure...

The two boot images are the same, one is packaged as a WIM to be imported into WDS as a boot image and the other is an ISO that you can burn incase the PC does not support PXE. This is just a version of Windows PE (Portable Edition) that houses scripts etc and boots the PC, connects to the MDT deployment share over the network and then runs the commands/task sequences from there.

When it boots you should get the option to deploy an OS and then be able to pick from the architecture compatible images on your deployment point.

Also what I can't figure out is the Task Sequences, do I make them up or are there a certain set of sequences in which I need to use for the deployment to work, at the moment i Have Task Sequence 1 - Deploy Windows 7

A task sequence is just a list of instructions to do a certain task. You can create new ones to install different OSs or to install them differently, ie backing up user settings and data then migrating them if you are running over an XP machine for example.
