I am just installing SQL 2008R2 onto a new 2008R2 server.
I get to the page 'specify the service accounts' but on the line SQL server browser the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE is greyed out and can't be changed to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
The other lines above like SQL SERVER AGENT I have been able to change to \SYSTEM.
Yes its on the domain but not as a member. I did think I could leave it as local service and then later change it in services but I then had an issue with setting up the main admin account user which needs to be a domain user acc, so on next visit which is Thursday I was going to DCPROMO the server and start over.Is the server on your domain?
If your server is not a member on the domain then NT Authority/Local service is the only option you will be offered. You could DCPROMO, but it may be more straightforward to use an existing DC.
Its a single server school and this is going to be the DC.
Normally I do things in an order when setting up a new DC but I wanted to install SQL earlier in the list than I would normally do it.
Fair enough, I guess you'll probably leave the SQL install until the DC is done - that should solve your issues.
