    APC ups

Anyone using an APC ups but not the smart thingy software? I've attached my ups, it's recognised and I've set up the server to shutdown when the battery reaches 50%. Is that sufficient?

I know that 2003 recognises UPS in the Power control panel, but wasn't aware 2008 could do so. Where does it appear?

    Hi

My understanding is that 2008 supports USB UPS and not serial. See below for more information.

Plugged in the usb and the power options gave both battery and ac power options.

@chrbb - So was your question about the settings of the shutdown to 50%?

It depends on how big the UPS is, it depends on how long your server takes to shutdown and how long your UPS will run it for. So long as it can shutdown in the time provided then it will be fine.
