    Cool Move Computer Accounts

    Hi people,

Hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction. Currently i am migrating our old Server 2003R2 (32Bit) Domain to a our sparkly new 2008R2 Domain. (Gave up trying to upgrade as its dont seam to like going from 32bit to 64bit).

So far i have create all new servers (we have virtualised VSphere 4), new domain, dhcp, dns etc. All working fine, created new GPO's where needed and used ADMT to migrate all the users and groups over. All of which seams to have gone suprisingly well.

However, i would like to migrate the computer accounts over but if i use ADMT (two way trust setup) it only copies the account, hence the XP clinets are still login to the old domain, although the new domain does appear in the drop down list. Does anyone know how to get the computer accounts to move to the new domain (ie delete from old domain and add to new), without having to logon to each one individually?

    Cheers

    Use the Netdom.exe tool

    NETDOM MOVE machine /Domain:domain [/OUu path] [/UserD:user]
    [/PasswordD:[password | *]]
    [UserO:user] [/PasswordO:[password | *]]
    [/REBoot[:Time in seconds]]

Thats because it is impossible, you can't do direct upgrade from any 32 bit OS to 64 on MS stuff. Look in active directory sites and services the domain will be in there somewhere, you can delete them if they are no longer required, but you will have to be very careful as I am not sure of your setup.

probably easiest way to do it is have a 2nd decent pc disk to vhd the current server lock stock and barrel and stick it on pc2 as a vm

install new os on old svr then transfer roles \data etc from vm Assuming youre trying to install 08rs on your current x86 server
