    What, as in the full output, does the ver command say when run on R2 (I can't get to one to look until monday?

    Thanks, but it's not what I need then (I'm making a batch file that has to cope with lots of OSs).

    Plan B: What do these two reg values contain?

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProductName
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\CSDVersion

    You could use AutoIT's RegRead function:

    RegRead ( "keyname", "valuename" )

    Code:

    MsgBox(4096, "Program files are in:", $var)
