    SQL 2008 express

im having a problem getting the above to install on R2, i have installed this on server 2008 x64 with management tools (500+mb) and configured to use with Altiris ok, yet on R2 i get the message it's not compatible.

ive got to the MS download page and the new version (104mb) comes with out the management tools but also more importantly it doesnt allow for configuration during installation.

anyone else had any issues and got over them?

I just put this on an r2 server a couple of days ago grabbed the runtime only one from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en and it installed fine, you can still configure instances and stuff during installation.

If you mean configuring and managing the tables and such then you will need to use the managment tools, you can use these on the install you already have and just connect the managment console to your new serbver to manage it or install the whole lot on your new server.
