Backing up Server 2008R2
Do some server 2008R2 builds and our Commvault agents are not compatible with R2 yet.
Has anybody used Server 2008R2 built in backup utility yet. Going to try and use that see how it does against the other solutions out there.
The R2 servers are going to house a Sharepoint farm with a SQL cluster

21st August 2009, 03:36 PM #2 the built in util does not support tape drives. it seems fine for disk/network location backup though.
i stopped looking at it really when i saw no tape support, our primary schools all have a single server with a tape drive.

21st August 2009, 06:42 PM #3 is the backup any better than the waste of space included with the older version of 2008?

We dumped (ie: didn't use) the internal backup util in exchange (ha ha) for a disk based solution.
After much research and comparison of Acrons, Symantec and others we chose StorageCraft ShadowProtect (Storagecraft - complete data backup, disk imaging, disaster recovery, migration and data protection solutions in the UK for Windows servers, desktops and laptops. - | StorageCraft | fast System Backup + Disaster Recovery), mostly because of the restoration speed and hardware independent restoration function.
Haven't looked back since.

We use a VB-Addon which pulls through the title of the page you link to so sometimes it shows a really useful bit of text, others its just junk.
