    Question Folder redirection

    Hello,

I'm sure this topic has been covered countless times but i have unable to get it to work for myself. I have a 2008 r2 server setup in a HS with users having their own home folder on a network drive, I have been unsuccessful in getting this folder to be redirected to their documents folder on the computer. When they came to install the server the guy said they had been having trouble getting the feature working. I am basically self taught when it comes to windows server environment and have been learning as I go along with no support, I have been able to get along pretty good up till now but require some help on the more complex issues. If anyone could help a poor guy out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can redirect their home folder in the user properties, in AD.

But do redirect their My Documents, you need to apply a group policy to the users. Open up Group Policy Management and create a new GPO.

Under User Config\Windows Settings\Folder Redirection you can say which folders you would like to redirect.

See how you get on and let me know if you have any problems

There is also an age old issue with Windows 7 (and 8) that breaks folder redirection. It's such a swine that we have a startup script that adds some reg entries, shown below. Store the .reg file with the script and point the script to its location. You won't do any harm running this even if it's not the issue.

    redirect.reg
