    Missing folder oddity

It looked like someone had deleted a folder full of work from the server so I went to restore from a backup but the restore asked if I wanted to overwrite the missing folder. So it looks like the folder is not missing but hidden from view. I have been in to folder settings and enabled things like 'show hidden files' etc but still the folder is hidden. I ran a restore but still not viewable.

Any pointers how to fix this oddity.

Can you browse to the path directly (ie, \\server\share\name_of_folder) to prove it is hidden but 'there'?

managed to display a grayed out folder by ticking 'display protected operating system files' but when I right click on the grayed out folder and go to properties the hidden box is ticked and grayed out.
