If not, a backup/restore should do the trick, just make sure the old one is turned off once you do the backup, so there's no overlap.

Thanks
Alrighty then. Booting up the 64 bit but...could I setup the same netbios name from 32bit? Because they're on the same subnet.

If not then you will need to run ADprep from the 2008 r2 cd on the 2008 dc. otherwise you will have all sorts of problems.
Nope. This one will be the first but I'm concerning about the name of server I would like to move into R2 but would it conflict because the 32bit's is in use?

Right about the turned off once the backup is done, that was my first thought. Both machines are on the same network by the way.
Thanks Zuk.

You won't be able to name them both the same thing - they both have to be switched on and operating at the same time in order to add the AD and DNS roles, and to do that they need different names and IPs. Technically, you could later change the name, but its really not worth it as you can mess up things badly doing that.

Yeah, that part (Duplicate IP and name) concern me the most. Guess I have to wait for the whole setup and I don't like to get paid for messing it up.
