Adobe Reader X
So far every DC Windows Server I've installed Adobe Reader X, I receive a warning with regards to its new sandbox features (when opening a PDF). Clicking the Adobe link regarding these errors, there's nothing documented with regards to running Adobe Reader X on Windows Servers.
Any clues as to what I need to tweak so it runs perfectly like on a workstation? TIA.
I have deployed Acrobat Reader X using Group Policy. I get the first-time-run agreement but apart from that [users being unfamiliar with this] I haven't seen any issues.
I extracted the MSI from the installer EXE by opening the EXE using 7ZIP.
I've deployed the MSI to workstations with no problems and I installed the same MSI manually on each server - domain controllers and member servers. At each site so far, Adobe Reader X displays a message that it can't operate in sandbox mode (across so many words) only on domain controllers. I wonder if it's possibly something to do with IE security, as it works fine on workstations.
Out of interest why did you want to install it on a DC? I usually try to avoid putting software like that on servers if I can help it. Are they Terminal Servers or something along those lines?
Typically documentation published by Birmingham is in PDF format, so it's easier to have instructions all on one screen, and it saves paper by not printing a document I'm going to use once.
It's not a major problem, but of course I would like all servers to be able to use Adobe Reader's latest security features.
