HP ML110 G5 running W2K Server

Before we start, I already know HP don't support 2000 Server for this model...

I've managed to get 2000 Server installed (bit fiddly as there are no RAID drivers either) but now I need a driver for the NIC. There are several posts on HP forums where people have had the same problem but noone seems to have posted saying they've fixed it. I've tried extracting the Server 2003 drivers to get the .INF files etc., and manually pointing at them but still no luck. Has anyone else tried (and overcome) this or got any ideas please?

What network card is it?

When you pointed to the location of the INF file, Windows will probably tell you it's not suitable, but have you tried anyway? The worst thing that can happen is Windows will disable the device.

It's integrated. Pretty sure it's a NC105i Gigabit Ethernet Server Adapter.
The CD it came with had 2003 drivers for both Intel N1E and Broadcom NICs.
I've tried SO many 2003 .INF files now I'm beginning to lose hope.... :frusty:

Wahaaaaay!! Bl**dy typical... I spend an hour trying and get nowhere, decide to post, and then no sooner I've worked it out for myself.
I decided to forget looking via HP and went direct to Broadcom...

Glad you got it sorted. I've found it increasingly more difficult to get XP drivers for HP recently too (for certain hardware). It does create a lot of work I agree!

just "PCI Device", 2 USB controllers and the Video Controller to go and I've got the complete set ;)

There were a few people on the HP forums who were looking for XP drivers for this server (!?) and the 2003 ones seemed to work for them.

Yes generally XP/2003 drivers are the same, but the problem I had a while back was downgrading a laptop from Vista to XP. It does get increasingly harder the older XP gets.

If you're unable to identify what PCI Device is (for example), right click the device, choose Properties > Details. Typing the beginning of the device ID into Google can give you a clue as to what it is.

I think one of the Unknown Devices is the driver for the HP Lights Out management stuff. Even if you don't have that option in your server!

When you end up with one remaining device and you're tearing your hair out finding a driver for it - there isn't one, find the HP Null Device driver and stick that on ;)
