Hello everyone,
I asked this question over on RM Communities, but I thought I'd cast the net a bit further. I was wondering if anyone is running System Center Config Manager (2007 / 2012) on a CC3 network? If so, any gotchas or issues you can share on its deployment?
The consensus over on RM Communities is that its a bit overkill for running on a CC3 network, but I'd be really keen to use Forefront Endpoint protection instead of Symantec AV.
All comments greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jay

29th April 2012, 09:12 PM #2 I think the answer to your question is if you want to run SCCM in a network, it would be far more suitable for a vanilla network rather than a CC3 or CC4 network. CC3 uses patches published by RM themselves, which are then distributed via the RMMC (as are other applications too).
This is fine in principle as it's in a controlled/subscription environment which is suitable for some schools. I do know of plenty however that have migrated to a vanilla setup for the added flexibility of using the likes of SCCM and other Microsoft technologies.

29th April 2012, 09:20 PM #3 Really isn't worth it as you can't use any part of it. However assuming you're correctly licensed, you can at least use the Forefront 2012 client on your systems without a problem (this is exactly what we're doing atm until SCCM goes live this summer). Can't manage it but it'll do until CC3 dies off.
