We have just restarted out whole network of servers and now all of our clients around the campus seem to be failing to connect to it! does anyone know what services need to be running in order to fix this?

Look in the services on the exchange server and look for anything microsoft exhange... .

What was the fix?

Information store not started?
In the later version's of windows I would recommend setting the Information store to a delayed start - with me (and it being a Vm which boots stupidly quickly) the rest of the services didn't have a chance to start in time for the IS to start.
We found a Batch script that was writen by one of our old Tech Guys here, once run this enabled all of ther services needed for our Exchange to run with everything else, please feel free to ask if you would like to see a copy!![]()
