Cant install Active Directory Schema snap-in

trying to move everything to a new 2008R2 server from 2003. (my first attempt at this)

on 2003 server I need to open AD Scheme snap-in.

    I normally do this by:
    • Open Command Prompt.
    • Type:

      regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll
but I am getting regsrv32 is not recognized as an internal or external command.

Can you not run that on the 2008 R2 DC instead to get around it. I assume your moving roles? It will be possible to do it on your new DC.

The simplest way of doing it is:
    Create a taskpad.
    Start - run "MMC"
File - Add remove snapin - add - Active directory users and computers
    Put this line in notepad:
    msiexec /i adminpak.msi ADDLOCAL=FeADTools /qb

Save it as a bat file. Put adminpak.msi and this bat file in a folder and
    run the bat file.

    Then check the taskpad.
