Windows Server 2000/2003 Thread, exchange 2007 hangs after dc removed in Technical; I have removed a DC from our domain and now my exchange 2007 just stays at applying computer configuration upoon ...

    exchange 2007 hangs after dc removed

    I have removed a DC from our domain and now my exchange 2007 just stays at applying computer configuration upoon reboot before I rebooted my DB files. like community and pupils and staff

    1. Check your DNS settings on the Exch server
    2. As mentioned above, what this the only DC/GC in your foresr/domain?
    3. Have you used static enteries for exchange to use for GC querirs, if yesy, then change this

    no i have 2 GC servers the server has loaded after some time i have logged in but now is takeing for ever to load the profile and the profile isnt that big either. dns settings on the server are ok as i changed them before the problem when you say static enteries for exchange you mean dns ?

    In Exchange you can either let it automatically choose which DCs to use to talk to or you can manually specify use this DC (handy in split sites with slow links and such).

    Have a look in Exchange System Manager and double-check that it's not looking for your demoted DC.

    Oh hang on - did you run dcpromo to demote your old DC?

    yea i ran dcpromo where in exchange can i specify to use this dc

    1. I was referring to dsaccess. Run EMS and run get-exchangeserver yourexchangeservername | fl > c:\exch.txt

    Look for enteries begining with staticdomaincontroller etc... there should be about 3 or 4

    2. What are the DNS enetires on your NIC, which one is preferred?

    1. The DC/GC you decomm'ed, did this hold any of the FSMO roles? Check where the FSMO roles are now and status.

    all the fmso roles was transferd over to dc1 a few weeks ago all 5 of them
