    DNS Gremlin Server

    Server1 New Server (PDC)
    Server2 New Server (DNS Replica)
Server3 Old Server (Old PDC - No roles)

So I have demoted and removed the old DNS Server3 role but when launching NSLookup on Server2 it says Server3 is still the NS. If I launch NSLookup on Server1 it uses Server1 (the correct server)

So on Server2 I have checked DNS entries, NS, PTR and SOA - all correct. DHCP has all the correct entries too.

So where else can Server2 be getting its NS entry from?

    Thanks

    Note to self -

    When diagnosing DNS errors -

    A) Dont do it while ill
    B) Remember servers have manual IPs
    C) Dont be a div!

thats why when creating new dc's and demoting old ones i use the same ip's so remove from the old and give to the new - far less hassle then changing all servers manual ip's.

I couldn't do it that way because I migrated everything over in parallel so there was no down time.
