net share > c:\shares.txt not creating txt file
Hello All,
Is there any reason anyone knows of that would stop
net share > c:\shares.txt
creating the txt file?
All I want to see is our shares...I'm on an RM CC3 network, running Server 2003 - does anyone have a workaround, fix, or alternative for viewing shares?
Thanks,
Laura

18th August 2010, 10:55 AM #2 If you just type "net share" do you see the list?
If you type "net share > %temp%\shares.txt" it should write it to the temp folder - then try "type %temp%\shares.txt" to see the contents (leave out the quotes!)
If that works, it sounds like permissions aren't allowing you to write to c:\
Are you running this on the server?

18th August 2010, 10:59 AM #3 when I try either of these a blank dialogue box flashes up and closes straight away. net share on its own doesnt pull up anything either, I am doing this on a server, remoting in. The %temp just shows that it can't be accessed...
I am logged on as administrator too!!

18th August 2010, 01:02 PM #5 Can you explain? Were you trying to do this at the run prompt instead of the command prompt? Always useful to know what was wrong if someone else finds this thread. ("Not enough coffee this morning" is an acceptable explanation :-))
