    Question Exchange Email Troubleshooting

    Hi,

We have been using Exchange 2003 here for a number of years without any problems.

Recently a few emails of different content & recipient have been reported to have not arrived, however some messages been received ok.
I have checked the message tracking in the system manager and all appears correct, that the
messages have been delivered to the appropriate servers.

I have also run smtpdiag to test delivery to the affected addresses and that reports all is ok.

From my point of view, it looks like the problem is not at my end. Anyone disagree?

Have you checked your wonderful users haven't created themselves some custom rules (that they have now forgotten about)

Also could check that you don't have any e-mail for that user set to be delivered to an alternate recipient on exchange....from memory there is an option to only deliver to alternate

Sorry forgot to mention. These are emails sent outside of the school!

I think you're quite correct, it doesn't appear to be a problem at you're end, if as you say some e-mails are getting out externally (i.e can you e-mail a hotmail address for example, every time) then the routing would appear to be fine.

Are there no bounce backs at your end at all when a message fails to be delivered?

No fail / delay messages of any kind. I assume that the message is being filtered by the recipients spam filter or the recipient is accidently deleting it.
