16th December 2009, 01:16 PM #1 VM Ware console not working on 1 server
hi everyone
we run most of our servers as virtual. (about 8)
They all run fine, and we can configure/use them via the console tab in vm infrastructure client.
They are all working ok the only problem is the print server will not show up on the console. I just get a black screen.
However it works fine and i can use remote desktop to get into it, it is just annoying not being able to use the console.
I did not set this one up so i do not know if it was an option that was ticked during setup.
please help
cheers nick

17th December 2009, 09:00 AM #3 Is it running 2008r2?
There's a graphics issue with the VMWare console. You need to disable the VMWARE grpahics driver.

try vnc to the machine, if thats blank then its the vm graphics card, becuase i may be wrong but remote desktop uses its own graphics driver or something like that, was the server converted from a real box to a vm, as it might be something funny with the old graphics driver causeing problems

18th December 2009, 05:14 PM #8 no it was not converted.
the physical print server fell over so the old NM created a new one, in vm.
