Just give them time If nothing's shown up in a couple of days time (leave the machines on) then worry about it.

Are you using port 8530 rather than port 80? If so, you'll need to append :8530 to the URL pointing at your server.

Also, to force a client to update, use: wuauclt /detectnow

It normally appears quite quickly in the list then.

(I only set up WSUS at my new school last week, so I'm still learning, but I think that's right.)

    we new-sid the images.

Should it be pointing to 8530 or 8531 as iis lists 8531 as the ssl port? am i right as having the gpo pointing to https://servernameort number?

Is there anything I could browse to to check iis is running correctly?

There are a couple of diagnostic tools you can download:

Microsoft Windows Server Update Services Tools and Utilities

The Client Diagnostic tool and Server Diagnostic tool I have found to be helpful

Also look in the client windowsupdate.log in the Windows directory to see if it is talking to the WSUS server.

rename the attached text from WSUS_Fix.txt to WSUS_Fix.bat

Run it on the client, then see if it appears in WSUS.

On the internal LAN you should be fine. I dont think there is any senative data sent to and from WSUS
