Imaging and Virtual Machines
I have an image that I built on a physical machine but I would like to deploy that to a virtual machine so I can adapt the image with needing to steal a machine.
The problem is that it won't boot once deployed to the VM because it doesn't have the drivers for the Virtual HD, any ideas where I can get these drivers?

Would I be right in thinking that, that would overwrite the registry and require me to reinstall all the previous software though?

30th June 2009, 01:12 PM #7 Not with anything (install media) post XP SP2, the repair install will keep the existing software. Make sure that you have the drives set to IDE rather than SCSI in the VM config if that is an option.

No problem - it won't mess up the original software settings (that's kind of the point of a repair install!) but it will roll it back to SP2.
You can make a CD with SP3 slipstreamed into it - it's always handy to have!
