Log on causing shutdown box

Hello people,

Having a problem with the web server here holding joomla.

When i type in the username and password (Local or Remotely) when i press enter it is prompting the shutdown box where i have to type the reason for shutdown.

Has anyone come across this problem?

Is the box asking you to shutdown or is it just asking for the reason the server last shutdown (i.e. it shutdown unexpectedly and wants to know why)?

Is this a windows one or a linux one. If its windows try booting into safe mode and see if you can get in.

Sorry I forgot if the server is windows and on the domain. Open event viewer on another machine on the network logged in as a domain admin and click action and connect to another computer and have a look at the eventlog that might give you a clue
