I had to use the HP Universal Driver on this Printer as the updated one on the HP website continually crashed the print spooler on a Win 2k3 server, just as you described...

Our server died, so had to buy and build a brand new replacement. I thought I'd get all new printer drivers from the HP site... Such a bad idea... Found SO many broken shoddy drivers... Do HP not validate drivers before releasing them??!
