    Upgrading 2003R2 64bit with Dell MD1000 attached

i need to upgrade a Dell 2950 from 2003R2 64bit to 2008R2 64bit and it has a Dell MD1000 attached. Not having carried out an upgrade with a DM1000 attached, is it possible to do without losing all the shares and file permissions on theattached storage?

It has no other roles it's purely a file server.

    Any advice appreciated.

If you turn off the MD100. Do you upgrade and then all you need to do is re-share the folders. You will need to re enter the share permissions. However the NFTS permissions will be intact so you don't have to worry about that.
