Had a play with it on a desktop after work today but it was pretty hard going. I can see it working OK on a tablet but as a desktop OS if feels too dumbed down and lacking in functionality. Granted you can go back to the 'desktop' view but this feels like it's been bolted on as an afterthought.
On the plus side the mail/skydrive 'cloud' integration at OS level is a welcome feature.
Whilst it might help MS fight off Apple's dominance of the tablet market but I can't quite imagine how it's going to fit in with our existing school desktop/laptop infrastructure at the moment! When the Windows Vista/7 beta's were released I started using them on my main desktop at home pretty much straight away but Windows 8 at it stands leaves me wondering if I'll ever want to use it on a desktop?
Hopefully some of the changes prior to release will make it a bit more desktop friendly
