Huh? It's just a £999 Samsung Series 7 700T tablet with Windows 8 pre-installed instead of Windows 7.
It's noisy and hot too. :(Quote:
The fondleslab is rather curiously named the Samsung Windows 8 Developer Preview PC – no mention of the word tablet – and it's unlikely to see the light of day as a commercial product. But it provides some interesting insights into what kind of tabler Microsoft would like to see people using.

All of the above sections should give you a solid look at what Windows 8 is shaping up to be, but what about the hardware? While we got a look at the OS running on a few laptops and all-in-ones during the press preview meeting, we’ve spent most of the time testing the OS on the Samsung Developer Preview tablet. Powered by a 1.6GHz Core i5-2467M processor and a 64GB solid state drive, the system is absolutely no slouch on performance — everything from scrolling in the browser to the Start screen is extremely speedy and the system boots incredibly quickly. However, fan noise is very noticeable, as is the heat coming out of the top vent, and a fast boot doesn’t excuse the slow wake-up times compared to ARM-based cellphones and tablets. (Source)
Well, this being such an early version, no doubt things will change. However, they really have to remember that their main market is business, not home users or tablets. Developing something that works great on tablets is a good idea, but not at the expense of the bread and butter 'desktop' machines that hundreds of millions of employees use every day in the office.

Although I could see why Storage Server was locked to OEM from a business point of view it always seemed such a waste of potential, especially with many file servers virtualised now so this is one feature to look forward to on Server 8 :D
As for the desktop OS... I don't want the tablet interface on anything without a touch screen so MS please be sensible and keep the Windows 7 desktop \ Start Menu as an option...
How the hell do you exit a program on Windows 8, its driving me potty. If i press the Windows key it just switches between applications.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but...
Doesn't run in VMware Workstation 7.
Does run in VMware Workstation 8 (released today) and virtualbox.
Most importantly, runs SIMS ok.
Its more of an overlay for windows 7 then a new OS IMO. At 3:05 he shows a normal windows 7 (what looks like it anyway) at the click of a button, reminds me of windows media center, looked neat but never used it over windos media player and a standard desktop UI but when used on a TV as a media station I can see its advantage, this looks great for a tablet but its nothing new its already on windows mobile devices which I really like but im yet to try one myself.
From what I have heard they still need a better way to launch and switch between apps in desktop mode. Sure the tablet stuff will be great on the .01% of machines that have touch screens but multimonitered desktops will be seriously gimped without proper consideration. I think someone needs to throw a chair bacck at Balmer with some notes for improvement on it.
Alt+tab works as normal and the taskbar is still there in desktop mode. Touch can use swipe gestures to switch apps.
Ars thoughts: Hands-on with Windows 8: it's good stuff on the PC, too
the screenshots and demo vids look good. i'll try the dev build on a pc but would love to see it running on my eeepad!
That windows 8 server theme looks like it comes from the Windows 98 monochrome theme!!
My eyes are bleeding just looking at all that white :)
