What's with the fish?
Seems like my earlier disconnect was a blessing in disguise, restarted the download with IE9 and was coming down at 1.5Mbps, now done on both x86 and x64.
My guess is that some of the load balancers they've brought up since aren't as rammed.
Already got this on our WDS server & Installing to a VM now :P
Will take the .isos home for this evening.
Anyone being crazy (like me) and installing this as their primary OS ? :P
I really hate to judge it after only a few minutes of using it but I can't help but feel that they've really dropped the ball on this one. Everything seems a lot more awkward to get at for desktop users and I'm really not convinced about the wisdom of getting rid of the start button. I wonder if this is going to turn out to be another vista and W9 will end up being to W8 what W7 was to Vista.
I think they've screwed the pooch. No enterprise is going to want this.
No Start Menu, a fiddly tablet menu system to launch an app - which takes you OUT of the desktop to do so.
Either they are being very, very clever and assuming most enterprises will either stick with 7 after an arduous XP migration, or be on XP and be in the process of migration to 7.
This really feels like a home only system.
Wow talk about a dissapointment. There are some nice changes here and there but it is completely overshadowed by the poor decision to remove the start menu button and add the frustrating 4 corner thing. I think i preferred the Developer preview!
And who decided to put the shutdown option in the settings button??
installing it on a tablet and a laptop sitting side by side, just spent 5 mins cursing at the laptop trying to touch the screen and it not responding.. oops.
How does the start 'menu' thing look with regards to icons?
Has anyone tried to install apps like Office 2010 and Adobe CS5 etc? How does it sort all those icons?
Install?! How the hell do I get the Run box up?!
Well I've found one thing I like- mounting ISOs direct from Explorer. As for the rest ... I'm still playing.
I hope Server 8 isn't like this. Touch enabled Server Manager - the horror!
Edit - The Start "menu" won't appear whilst installing software!
Installed it on a ntablet that we brought last year from Novatech
Sadly res is at 1024 x 600, so had to hack it to run at 1024 x768
VERY disppointed that I can't sign in to the music, video xbox apps. It's only allowed in the us and I think three othe countries. May I ask why?, the UK is enabled for all the zune and xbox services, just cant see why this as been disabled.
Gusse I will have to wait for that.... I did manage to actually get the music store etc to run, change my location to USA in the windows settings. Just will not let me log on because my Windows Live ID account is a UK account, not a USA one.
Next step - get work to buy some nice tablets (slate of course) with docks, wireless keyboard and mouse. I'll say the same one has the Windows Devloper units, they have a nice i5 in it! best speced one I have seen, but they will not be cheap through.
