I'll keep that in mind if I find any more. However, I am still not sure why anyone would choose a model M over more modern equivalents.

I suppose because they are so easy to maintain. Despite their age they are bullet proof.

late to the party here, I trialled it onto the wifes laptop (not brave enough for my main machine here yet), not sure what to make of it in all, its different, bit buggy (it is a pre sp1 os from M$ though), seems to be a bit like the gnome shell from Linux too me at least in parts, but I do like the look of it overall I think.

First impressions for me are that it has a learning curve alright, its a departure from previous versions of windows, I spent best part of an hour working out how to get the address bar up on demand in IE 10 #winning now and I actually like full screen browsing of the internet now.

I like it, but it needs to be worked on, think ill delay judgement until further down the line with it as things stand now.

Can see the problems of switching to it no end though from a professional pov, esp where I am working given the change.

I have JUST burnt win 8 pro and stuck it on a machine for users to play with see what they think... played a little game actually "Who can find the shutdown button quickest?" .... not many people could find it thats for sure... many struggled to actually get to the desktop.

I dont think I'll ever be rolling this out on my network...

You mean you did not let them log on for themselves. In Enterprise at least when you log on for the first time you get a nice little movie entitled 'Things have changed'

Does that happen on a domain though? Did it on first setup on a local install but not had it on a network yet.

Was using IE Metro the other day, found the on screen keyboard easy to use so that side of things working well.

That screen confused me briefly - as it came across as if it *wanted* you to "Move your mouse to any corner" so that it would tell you about what now happens
But all it does is .. err.. well nothing really..
After a minute or so of moving my mouse to a corner and wondering why nothing had happened, it eventually timed out and moved on..

Yeah it' s dumb. You'd think it would be interactive but nope.

You can even alt-f4 it, dumping you to a blank screen for 15/20 seconds whist Windows creates your initial profile. Dumb.

Tried Windows 8 out again today for a couple of hours on a new PC with the intention of using it day-to-day as my main machine at work.

I just can't get along with it, its a step back for me and there is virtually no improvements on the desktop side of things.

I'll be sitting this version out. Bring on Windows 9

At least it was just me that it confused at first!

Yeh I tried that but its a bit of a fudge.

I still don't see any compelling stand out feature that Windows 8 gives me as a desktop user. Maybe I'm missing something though...
