We have WSUS but I can't get it to work with W8 for the moment (and not enough time to troubleshoot, as it doesn't seem to be a simple fix).

Not sure if I may have even installed Update 1. How would I know?! Nothing's showing in Windows Update (via the Internet).

If you have Update 1 installed, go to the Windows 8 start screen and you should see a power button and search icon in the top right.

Depending on how many machines you need to do, you could install the updates manually. Do a search for KB2919442 (a prerequisite you MUST have) and then the actual update KB2919355

For those that want it, there is an updated version of the ADK available too:

Download Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) for Windows 8.1 Update from Official Microsoft Download Centre

Download came through last night, and I've already had it installed on my PC. Will let the 2012R2 servers do the update on Saturday when I come in to finish up some odd jobs. Really hoping the update sorts out the SMB file sharing issues I've hit in my other thread.

There's nothing significant but if you want to use Enterprise mode in IE11, you'll need them.

Just wondered if there are new settings that for example turn off that close down button on the start?

Nothing specific that I can see but there is the "Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep and Hibernate commands" setting. That may turn it off?

Can't get the update to install on the test machine, great start!
