Software Developers who Supply APPX file to Education

Since we need the .appx file from developers to deploy Windows 8 Store Apps through SCCM..
I thought it would be a good idea to start a list of Software Developers who supply their files to K-12 with their contact Info..

    Any takers?

That's a fantastic idea. Unfortunately at this time I have none to add so I will be keen to see what people come up with.

    Fantastic news!!! (sarcasm..)

Khan Academy hasn't replied to any of my emails to date about their Appx files.

    even better..

    drum roll please...

Microsoft has denied our request for the one note appx. They say we must obtain it through the windows store!! unbelievable.

Has anyone tried downloading .appx files directly from the Windows Store and re-signing the apps with your own certificate so you can sideload them?

Microsoft really need to make deployment of Windows Store apps easier.

I'd love to try that right now...
How can I download the .appx file instead of the program folder

I tried using makeappx.exe but ran into errors

This seems to be the only option right now although you would have to think this would be violating a few MS Term & Conditions...

    Hiya,

Would you need to sign themwith your cert, i would have thought you can just sideload them normally after you obtained the appx files? As for the legality of the situation i guess you can buy the app multiple time and then roll it out this way. Its to make it easier for our users, we're not trying to make profit from this or do piracy.

You can't download an appx file from the Windows store, you need to contact the developers. See the original post in this thread.
Here's some info on creating / signing your own Line Of Business apps.

Sideload Windows Store Apps - Windows 8, Try, Test, Help | TechNet
The problem with seeing and doing this firsthand is that you need to get your hands on an app that you can sideload. You cannot sideload an app you purchase from the Windows Store, and you might not be fortunate enough to have developers available who are working on them.

Well, I took a shot in the dark, and emailed Marsoutrach@jpl.nasa.gov telling them we were an educational institution wanting to roll out their Be A Martian app across our win8 devices. They replied about a week later with the appx files attached.

    Score.

For those who use Citrix they have the Citrix receiver appx file available to download from there website for you to deploy.

Citrix Receiver Sideload I think you need to be signed in with a myCitrix account though.
