Unable to connect to USB Shared Printer
We are currently testing Win 7 (x64) ready for deployment and have come across an issue with trying to connect the Finance computers to a shared HP3005 printer. This printer is currently connected by USB to Finance-001 and is used primarily for cheque printing. The printer is shared and available for Finance-002 to print too. In our current Windows XP (SP3) set up we have no problems as the two machines are using X86 drivers. I have upgraded a test machine called Finance-003 to Win 7 and am trying to get the desktop to add the shared printer but every attempt has currently failed.
On Finance-003 add printer and select add network printer - No printers were found - Then after selecting the printer I want isnt listed and manually adding the path I get the error Windows cannot connect to the printer with error 0x0000007e. Having googled this error and looked at several solutions they all seem to apply to network shared printers and not USB connected locally shared printers.
It seems that if I add a networked version of this printer from another department all seems well. Could it be a driver issue with the machine that the printer is installed on. Any tips or pointers would be welcome.
