Hi
Am wondering if it is ill advised to run a 64bit Win7 OS on a NC110
Samsung NC110-A03UK Netbook PC
The Intel Atom N570 1.66GHz is 64bit
I was thinking that a 64bit chip would run a 64bit OS without any problems, but I am unsure about this?
Is the 64bit OS 'heavier' on the hardware than 32bit OS?
The Netbooks have preinstalled Starter edition which is 32bit

Atom's will only address up to 2GB of memory. 64Bit will run on the netbook but slowly. 32Bit with 2GB of memory would be recommended.
Current Atom processors support 4GB RAM now (and that includes the two year old D410/D510 and D425/D525 Atom's).Quote:

With older Atom processors, Intel typically paired them with ancient and famously energy-inefficient chipsets (like the 945GSE which could only support 2GB RAM max). They also love artificially segmenting their products. There aren't any technical reasons why they need to do it.
AMD on the other hand allow you to use upto 32GB RAM with their low-end A-Series processors. :)

It's funny you should mention SeaMicro. They are owned by AMD now. :D
According to The Register, AMD will be de-Atomizing and de-Xeonizing the SeaMicro servers soon.
Yep having a particular intrest in AMD I did see :D going to be intresting to see how Fusion/4200/6200 processors go in there.
