Help with Offline Files

I am having great difficulty setting up Offline Files - a lot of which I've searched on the forum; following and replicating other people's setups to no avail.

I've attached my current GPO set up for y'all to have a look at.

I have administratively assigned offline files with the following:

%homeshare%
\\server1\profiles$\admin\%username%
\\server1\templates$\admin\start menu

(Enabled administratively assigned in a user gpo, too, but it did not work)


In addition to the above, on Win 2003, I have right-clicked on the folder --> properties --> sharing --> caching --> 'All files and folders that users open from the share will be automatically available offline'
And ticked 'optimised for performance'.

Can anyone help me to get this work?

Are offline files enabled on the client machine - tools, folder options, offline files, enable offline files.

I don't see that option on the laptop. I've had a look at a standalone machine and that doesn't have it, either. :confused:

What os is the client running?

Windows 7 Pro SP1

In which case - Sync Center - type it in the search box and select - then on the left menu pain is enable/disable

Yep, it is enabled and I've forced a sync, but it isn't synching the files located in a user's home directory.

Have I got this wrong..?

In the administratively assigned offline files, should the following be under 'Value Name' and not Value:

%homeshare%
\\server1\profiles$\admin\%username%
\\server1\templates$\admin\start menu

(I have the above in the Value field)

It states in the description: In the name field, type a fully-qualified UNC path for each file or folder. Do not enter a value for the item.

What does that mean?

Try removing '%homeshare%'

Are you making the roaming profile folder available offline? If so, don't. Also are you configuring the GPOs from a windows 7 client and ensuring you are using the latest admx's?

Followed the guides and got nada - zilch. I'm using the latest ADMX's and all the configuration is being done from the server. I can't seem to automate it, and in the Sync Center it seems to want to sync the entire User$ directory and not a user's home directory. Even if it tries to sync the User$ directory, it doesn't sync and it fails instead.

Any possibility I could have a look at someone's GPO on how they are using the setting administratively assigned offline files? Also, how are they caching their shared folders.
