We have a lot of old p4 hp compaq machines which altho need updating are more than capable for their needs.
So I thought i'd try putting windows 7 on them and using windows classic mode etc - turn off all the fancy stuff, seems like intel have other plans though :(

Machines just happen to have the 82915g/gv/910gl express chipset.
Any known workarounds for this or am I stuffed? :D

Yeah it's not really an issue with what you want - 915G doesn't like Aero anyway due to no WDDM. You're not entirely stuck with Windows 7 32 bit as some P4s on that chipset support EMT64, but you're probably better off on 32 bit. Using the classic shell should give no issues.
Yep, its working fine with 32bit and classic shell, tbh I think I prefer the classic shell instead of all the bells and whistles!
