Students discovered that they can use SharePoint Workspace from Office 2010, to instant messaging between themselves, teachers complaining as it disrupt lesson.
Best option would to be remove it, but as this is an part of Office installation, it's not that simple. Can you advice best way to block use of this?
Why remove a perfectly good collaboration tool just because of a classroom management issue? You might find that a few teachers are using it with their students and are scuppered when it is removed.
Don't block or blame the technology ... get the teacher to justify why they are not in control. If the students are not completing their work then deal with that ...
If students are leaning against a wall and chatting you don't remove the wall.
I think same, they should be able to control class, how they behave.
But I can't say to deputy the he should be in control and I will refuse to remove software.
I have removed groove.exe from program files through GPP, see if that works

Do block the technology, if that technology tempts the students into doing things that are not in their best interests or that cause you problems. Just as they can't use Skype or Messenger.
We block websites we don't want them to see - at least I do. Mostly because a sizable chunk of students cannot control themselves.
Something else to work around.

I went fishing there ... the correct response is that you put up a barrier around the wall until the students can be trusted. If you see my original reply I pointed out that some folk might be using the tool for educational benefit and so if you remove it you cause problems ... just as you would removing the wall.
