HP ProBooks (Windows 7 Pro) connecting to RADIUS WiFi ..
Right, ok, slightly interesting problem that I'm trying to trouble shoot.
I have 2 trollies of laptops that sometimes will and sometimes won't connect to our WiFi. The WiFi is controlled by a RADIUS Server on 2008 R2.
I'll try and explain the setup as best I can.
Server / DC Stuff:
All my stuff for the network computers is stored in one OU with sub OUs throughout (so Forrest > Domain > School OU then organised into Machines OU, Users OU, Security Groups OU, etc). Just keeps it neater, but was done more as I have an old one for the few XP users who still haven't brought their laptop to me ..)
In the School OU I have a Standard Machine GPO and Standard User GPO. The Standard Machine GPO houses the Radius settings for the network and this is enforced to make sure that it is picked up by the machines.
I have refreshed the policies on all the machines when cabled in to be sure they're getting them.
A bit hodge bodge at the moment, but where the laptops are currently being used there is full coverage (the rest of the site is one of my summer jobs .. fun). The access points have 2 Networks on them (2.4 and 5) with different SSIDs. The preffered SSID is set using Radius and, when I log on with local admin, is the one that shows up and connects fine when I double click it.
HP ProBooks running Windows 7 Pro. Get used by various users (staff and students) and in different places. In fact, I find the laptops work brilliantly in the less covered areas of the school than they do in the newly covered areas.
Basically, I can go an get them on with the local admin and they will connect fine, but then as soon as they go to a different classroom, they will stop working and need a local admin push again ..
I have it all set to say connect automatically to the network etc, but it just doesn't seem to want to do that, and I can't for the life of me figure out why ..
Any help, suggestions, tips or blunt objects to fight off the staff that keep coming to complain would be much obliged.
