IE10 and locked accounts
Since we started rolling out Windows 7 with IE10 in anger, we've noticed a huge increase in locked AD accounts - the user will get the usual dialogue box asking them to authenticate.
We use Smoothwall as our filter but I don't think this is the problem as it hasn't changed recently and the lockouts seem to only occur with users on the Win7+IE10 PCs
Short of removing IE10 I can't find any other problems, anyone else noticed anything like this?
We had the same problem. What we had to do is in smoothwall go to Web Proxy > Web Proxy Settings > Click Advanced > In Web Filter Options make sure "Interrupted NTLM connections are caused by non-standard Web browser behavior. Disable this option if restrictive Active Directory account lockout policies are in operation." is disabled. This fixed the problem for us.

I'd assumed smoothwall wasn't the issue here - but I'll try that setting and see how it goes - thanks for that.
Like yourself we never had a problem with lockout policies until we came back in September them BOOM loads of students couldn't logon, just like yourself. Spoke to Smoothwall support and they said to make the change mentioned and we haven't had a problem since. Well except for the real numpties that can't remember their password.
Yeah we always have the 'regulars' who lock themselves out but this was a massive increase! The only common factor was IE10 so I was working on the asumption it was that. Its both staff and students who have the issue here, hopefully it will fix our problem too.
@Sheridan: Did the solution I suggested work? Would be interested to know.
I only made the change a couple of days ago but so far its looking really positive, far fewer lockouts and they are probably just the normal!
