Starting nice and early today!
Not sure where to post this as it has elements of 7, security and hardware. But here goes...
Already had a teacher in my office, laptop in hand (and she's kind of my boss too!).
So anyway, it has a years work on it possibly not all backed up and she has not done anything to cause it (of course).
BSOD with the error in the title BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO, disk is encrypted with Truecrypt, so I can't pull it to gain access to the contents and back it up.
So far I have tried the usual SAFE MODE, START UP REPAIR/REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER, LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION.
Google is pointing to registry/hive corruption, is it worth trying to decrypt the disk or will it make things worse (is that possible) if the hard drive is failing?
Don't have a 7 disk to hand but can get one. I need to try to get the data off before I do anything that 'might' kill it completely though (wouldn't be the first time I've typed in something like FIXBOOT/FIXMBR and never seen that installation of Windows again lol).
Anybody seen this and recovered it?
