Random PCs decide to hand on applying GPs
We have over 1000 devices in school. They are all Windows 7 Ent 64bit SP1. 3 AD servers are 2008 and 1 AD server is 2008 R2.
Recently we have started getting random PCs - cabled (not laptops - wireless), which seem to hang on applying GPs.
The can take up to 4 hours to get to either the logon screen (bootup) or desktop (logon). This is the same if they are student, staff, admin or local admin users.
The only fix we have found is to rebuild them!
However the problem has started to come back on PCs that have already been rebuilt.
It is not affecting all PCs just random ones in different rooms, floors, etc.
As far as we can tell it is not an issue with any of the GPs as they work fine on other PCs and the laptops.
They can be sat there applying folders policy policy, (we do not have a policy called folders policy), or applying computer settings. Verbos logon is enabled.
When it actually gets round to our policies i.e. school settings policy, is shows this on the screen and only takes seconds.
Most PCs only take 1-2 minutes to boot and 2-5 minutes to logon.
Any help will be grateful. This seems to be getting worse with 8 new PCs starting to do this this morning.
