Language bar in Windows 7
Something that's been driving me insane for a few weeks and wondering if anyone on here has a solution.....
I want to manage the 'Language Bar' in Windows 7. When our students logon (to Windows 7x64 clients) I want them to see the language bar, and have a number of languages added to it. This is a request from our Languages department and was something that we did in Windows XP with the default user profile. We aren't using profiles in Windows 7 however. We have 'volatile' users that are removed when they logout.
The main method I've been trying to use revolves around populating these 2 registry keys:
My understanding is that the first key controls the visibility and appearance of the language bar, and the second key controls the keyboard languages that are available.
I've tried a number of ways of implementing these keys (Logon scripts, Group Policy Preferences, ADM Files) but none of them have worked. The issue that we are having is exactly as documented here but unfortunately the solution doesn't work. I think it's to do with the timing of when the registry keys are being implemented, and that it's too late for it to take effect on the users session.
So has anyone got this to work, or does anyone have any other alternatives? Seems like such a simple thing but....
