Appeal for Help - Windows 7 CC4 - All Programs (empty) not delivering program sets

    Hi

We are in the middle of rebuilding our cc4 network to windows 7. We have noticed that on some machines (Not all) that the program sets are not being delivered. It just shows up saying empty. If we log in as any user on that machine it doesn't work. But if that user logs in on another machine it can work.

We have tried deleting the DNS entries and updating that. Refreshing system packages.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

    Thanks

It could be a virus/malware or possibly a corrupt registry. I presume you've tried re-imaging the workstation?

No tried that and a couple of restarts :s

Also have the 100 update already installed.

Tried clearing the dns entries and setting some of the faulty stations to rebuild. We'll see how that goes.

In that case we've had the exact same issue with update 100 applied and service pack 1 (which RM will probably tell you to try), unless you are using SP1 build image.

For us it was a case of RM Desktop Agent being assigned, and supposedly installed, however despite showing up correct in RMMC, it wasnt the case. Logging into troublesome machines and checking the programs installed, we found that they had the older version on, reassigning RM Desktop Agent version 4.4.149.0.0 and making sure its installed correctly solves the issue (for us at least).

Only problem is knowing where has got the wrong version installed.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. I'll have a look at that today. What did you mean by unless you are using SP1 as that is the build template we have used. Windows 7 professional SP1.

If your using the build template with SP1 included, RM cant ask you to try installing SP1 as an update like they did for us.

Just to confirm, even though it's assigned, the service is started right?

Yes it was. For some reason running a health check on the program sets themselves seems to have fixed the issue. Must have kicked something through but we are looking good now. Thanks

Sorry to Hijack this post but, we are having the exact same issue, we have the latest version of desktop agent version 4.4.379 I have found in the event logs an errors sayings its failed to update the profile program sets for user xxxx

also the dagent log file has this error in it

    19/04/2013 10:08:20.952 Cache2ProfileProgramSetCollection.EnsureUpToDate: File C:\Program Files\Research Machines\Network Management\Start Menu Cache\Cache2\DACache.ini does not appear to exist.

this ties in the the event log error, I have checked and DACache.ini does exist and is populated with the program sets, at present the only fix we have is a profile reset, but its getting quite wide spread.

W have started having this issue every now and again with it just happening to random pupils. Not found a fix for this yet.

What version of group management client do you have installed? I think RM released another *potential * fix in Jan (or over xmas) which was after this thread was started that was version 1.6.761 which they felt resolves the issue.

It helped a little for us, but we do still get it now and again and the only resolution is to remove local profile from troublesome machine and reset the users profile. Still have an on going case with RM about it as do other schools
