I presume you're aware this is a server board, so the graphics are going to be pretty basic anyway?

Looking on Intel's site - W2K, XP and 2003 are supported but not 7 or 2008 R2. I'm surprised though that 7 or 2008 R2 wouldn't install all drivers by default. Are they definitely required when you open Device Manager?

I have found that older Intel chipsets are not supported in Windows 7 & you have to go with what Windows installs.
Some of this will relate to graphics & sound drivers. With the graphics you are often unable to use Aero. You may be lucky to get sound working though.

Post the DeviceID from the advanced properties in device manager, I agree with the above though, Intel is not good for drivers with a tiny support cycle in comparison to places like hp.

Have you run the Intel driver update utility?: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?lang=eng
If there is a driver available, this should tell you. I've actually found this page very useful in recent weeks.

You can sometimes install the XP drivers if you extract the files usinng soemthing like 7zip and then installing the inf file via device manager, it won't get you aero but can get you some of the features back like certain resolutions and acceleration of earlier directX and openGL stuff.
